Private Health Insurance Updates

We are often asked - can I claim my consultation with my private health insurer?

I’m so happy to report that private health insurance rebate eligibility for Naturopathy was legally reinstated by the Australian Government in July 2025.

The actual implementation of this has rolled out slowly, with selected insurers including naturopathy in their policies as of April 2026 - so, at this stage the answer is still “it depends”.

Please see below for more information.

Which Health Funds Have Reinstated Benefits for Naturopathy?

As of April 2026, Australian Regional Health Group (ARHG) and Commonwealth Bank Health Society (CBHS) have reinstated benefits for naturopathy and other selected natural therapies. ARHG includes funds such as Mildura Health Fund, Teachers Health and St. Lukes Health (see full list below). HBF have also reinstated benefits from October 2026. We are still awaiting formal announcements from other major health funds, so do check in with your provider to see where they currently stand.

Eligibility is of course subject to your own policy limits etc. so please check your individual policy inclusions and direct any questions to your health insurance provider.

  • ACA Health Benefits Fund Ltd

  • HBF

  • HP Health Partners (HP)

  • Mildura Health Fund (MDHF)

How to access an invoice for claiming purposes:

As a verified practitioner I have my provider numbers registered and displayed on my invoices, which means eligible services may be claimed manually with these insurance providers following your consultation - you’ll just need to download your invoice via the patient portal. You can find the patient portal link in the website menu bar above, under 'client links'.

If you have purchased a consultation bundle, the individual consultation invoices will need to be issued to you separately following the completion of each included appointment. If you need assistance accessing a copy of your invoice, please reach out via email.

We hope to see more health funds including us in their policies soon and I’ll continue to provide updates here as they come to light, so stay tuned!
